The best way to see whether a year is leap year or not is to look at the last 2 digits of an year. That's the divisibility test of 4.

For anyone who is curious as to why there isn't a leap year on the year 2100 (or 2200, 2300, 2500), there's an explanation.

The rules for when a leap year happens actually has 2 extra conditions that aren't often mentioned because they are almost never used.

The first rule most of us know is that a leap year occurs every 4 years, which adds an extra day to the February calendar.

However, this rule isn't applied to any year that's divisible by 100. For example, 2100 will not be a leap year because 2100 is equally divisible over 100.

The second condition is that the previous condition is overruled if the year is also divisible by 400. Which is why the year 2400 will still be a leap year, even if it's divisible by 100, because of the fact that it's divisible by 400.

I believe the reasoning for this is because a year isn't actually exactly 365.25 days, it's more like 365.24255 days, so they need to compensate for the 42 minutes that are gained every leap year somehow. Again, I'm no expert or mathematician, but I'm sure someone more qualified can give an explanation as to why.

shouldnt 2100 be a leap year, it is every 4 years and 2096 is one so why does it say 2100 isnt one??

Thank you (U) for teaching me all about leap yrs

This is SO helpful thank you!!

I was born on Feb 29th 1992, and 1992 was a leap year!

It's kinda strange having a birthday of leap day and it's celebrated strangely on years that aren't leap years.

So the next leap year is on 2024

Every 4th year will be the Leap Year...

If the Leap year occurred in 2020,then 2021,2022 & 2023 will not be Leap Years but 2024 will be the Leap Year... Similarly 2028, 2032, 2036, 2040, 2044, 2048, 2052 & so on will be the Leap years

I was born on a leap year. Just use multiples of 4

leaf year always has to be on an even number for example 2020 0 is an even number or 2024 4 is an even number

I needed to know this information. Thank you!

2059 is not a leap year stop it

2024 will be leap year

2050 is leap year

2019 and 2021 are not leap years -_-

:) very helpful

Leap Year is every 4 years bc every year is actually approx. 365.25 days. I am not exactly sure why Feb. gets an extra day; but I assume that the 'extra' .25 comes from there.

Leap year will always be on a even year and it is ever 4 years. 2020 was leap year.. you do the math.

2080 will be leap year

What is the situation for persons who are celebrating there birthday on 29 february
